Spence, Firestine, and Kresier first time May 4th winners

May 4, 2018

Brandon Firestine has shown the speed needed to be a winner in the Fredericksburg Eagle Hotel 270 Micro Sprints this season. He had not gotten to victory lane until Friday night. Firestine dominated Friday nights feature event leading each lap from his pole position. Tommy Kunsman won out in a battle with Scott Gingrich for second spot. Devin Harron charged from the tail of the field to finish fourth followed by Zach Hollinger.

Pat Bealer, Mason Peters, Morgan Rochelle, Nate Gibble, and Brian Sholly were the first ten across the line.

Heat winners for the 270 Micro Sprint were Pat Bealer and Mason Peters.

Kyle Spence made a mid-race pass of early race leader Steve Whary to take control of the Hoosier Tire Wingless 600 Micro Sprint feature event Friday night. Spence lead the rest of the way to grab his first win of 2018. Whary ended up second. Tommy Kunsman was third with Austin Quick and Josh Bewley making up the top five.

Kenny Murray was sixth trailed by Nash Ely, Dakota Barlet, Devin Gundrum, and Ben Earnst.

Spence, Whary, and Kunsman were the heat race winners.

In his first start of the season RJ Smith led the Modified feature race to the green flag. Smith showed the way for the first 13 laps of the feature event before the defending champion and opening night winner Richie Hitzler slid by following a restart. Hitzler led the remaining seven laps on his way to his second win of the season. Smith chased in second along with Cody Manmiller, Brian Blankenbiller, and Sam Scicchitano inside the top five.

Matt Warner finished a strong sixth while Kenny Harris, Ray Gradwell, Lance Garrison, and Jason Mills completed the top ten.

Rj Smith, Richie Hitzler, and Dylan McCrone won heat races for the Modifieds.

Dave Carraghan has been on a different level than everyone else this season in the Slingshots. It looks like the race to the chase that will lead to the chase to the championship a little later this season will be dominated by the number three car. Carraghan remained perfect in feature events on Friday night with his third win of the season. Dylan Hoch pulled into second early in the event and pressured Carraghan, but to no avail. Hoch settled for second followed by Ronnie Spitler, Justin Thompson, and Brett Bieber.

Anthony Raisner, Myron Moyer, Tayllor Schoenly, Austin Daniels, and Lindsey Garl finished out the top ten across the line.

Carraghan and Spitler were the heat race winners.

It’s not often we get to see Dale Kreiser climb back behind the wheel of a 4 cyl car at Linda’s Speedway. The all-time winningest Pro Stock driver in speedway history makes the occasional Charger start now a days. He did so Friday night and did so with triumph. Kreiser led every lap of the 15 lap feature event on his way to his first victory of the season over his teammate Troy Hostetter. Aaron Updegraff charged to a third place finish. Chris Smith and Josh Michael were the top five finishers.

Sean Yeagley notched a career best sixth place finish trailed by Don Stoudt, Josh Demmy, Chucky Kimmel, and Darrel Wagner.

Ed Hollenbach and Dale Kreiser were heat race winners.

Next Friday, May 11, will be the second time trial race of the season for the Fredericksburg Eagle Hotel 270 Micro Sprint fueled by Roadrunner Race Fuels. It will be the King of the Wing. The Hoosier Tire Winged 600 Micro Sprints will be on schedule as well as the Modifieds, Chargers, and a rookie Modified race. Gates open at 5 and practice starts at 7.
