Details on Iron Cowboy 30 & ARDC/Sidewinder Challenge

May 2, 2016

This Friday, May 6, will mark the start of a fast paced month of May at Linda’s Speedway. The ARDC Midgets are back Friday night to join the 270 Micro Sprints and Slingshots. Also Friday is the Wingless 600 Micro Sprint “Iron Cowboy 30” being held for the third year. Jason Swavely has won each of the prior two events. Gates open at 5 with hot laps rolling out at 7. Adult admission to the grandstands for this even is $8 with kids ages 6-12 paying $3. Pit Passes will be $25.

A special challenge will be presented to any driver that is competing in a Sidewinder Sprint 1000cc Mini Sprints with the ARDC Midget feature race Friday. An extra $250 will be awarded if a Sidewinder driver is able to win the feature event. The ARDC Midgets allowed the 1000cc Mini Sprints to compete with the Midgets in 2016. This procedure has already tested positively in the Mid-West.

The Hoosier Tire Wingless 600 Micro Sprint “Iron Cowboy 30” will offer some extra laps and extra pay to the drivers racing without the tin on this week. Also included in the winners take is the Cowboy boot trophy!

This is a time trial event using a format similar to what the USAC Sprint series uses. It is also the final point paying event before a three week point average kicks in for weekly competition. The race will pay a guaranteed $400 to win and $50 to take the green flag. There will also be a special 25th place starter. The car registration for the event will be $25. The Spec right rear tire rule will be in effect for this race.

An incentive has been added for Xcel 600 Modified teams to compete in this event. F&W Auto & French Fry Nation photos will give a $100 bonus to any Modified driver that is able to win the event! A bonus of $50 (to the highest Modified driver in spots 2-15) is also available. A sponsor that wished to remain unnamed has offered to pay half of the entry cost of any Modified driver that is going to compete in the event.

Modified drivers will need to remove their body and rear bumpers for the event. They must also run the Xcel stamped tires on their cars. The rest of the car will be expected to comply with the normal Xcel rule book.

The 270 Micro Sprints point chase will continue Friday as well as the points race in the Seidel Hyundai Slingshots. More information on this week’s event will become available as the week goes on at LindasSpeedway.com and on our Facebook and Twitter feeds. You can also contact the speedway via the track hotline at (717)865-5330.
