World Championship Weekend Nears for Slingshots

MYERSTOWN, PA – September 30, 2020 – Linda’s Speedway officials are highly an anticipating the biggest weekend of the year in Slingshot racing with the World Championship Weekend with nearly $10,000 at stake.

It all begins on October 29 when the pit area will officially open for Trailer, Rv, and Camper Parking at 5pm.

October 30 will be the first time cars hit the track with gates opening at 4, drivers meeting at 6, and practice at 6:30. A full program will be run for the Junior and All Star Slingshots that will include time trials, heat races, b mains, and feature events. The Junior Slingshots will compete in a 20 lap feature while the All Star Slingshots will run a 25 Lap feature.

Intensity ratchets up on Saturday Oct 31 when each division will run two races on the same day. Gates for the racing open on Saturday at 11am. The drivers meeting will be at 12:30 with practice starting at 1. A full program will be run for the Junior and All Star Slingshots that will include time trials, heat races, b mains, and feature events. The Junior Slingshots will compete in a 15 lap feature while the All Star Slingshots will run a 20 Lap feature.

The track will close after victory lane and track work will begin for the second race of the day. Since this event is taking place on Halloween, kids of all ages will be welcomed to dress up and go trick or treating in the pit area during the break. Teams are encouraged participate but it is not mandatory.

Following the intermission for track preparations the second half of the days racing will begin under the lights. Practice will start at 6:30 followed by another set of time trials to set the field for the nights events. A full program will be run for the Junior and All Star Slingshots after with heat races, b mains, and feature events. The Junior Slingshots will compete in a 15 lap feature while the All Star Slingshots will run a 20 Lap feature.

The entire weekend of practice, qualifying, blood, sweat and tears comes down to Sunday November 1. The final day of the World Championship Weekend and the final points event of the 2020 season to decide the World Champions in each class.

It’s anyone’s guess as to who will be enshrined in the record books right down to the final lap.

Defending race winners of World Championship Weekend events include Jared Silfee, Scott Neary, Dave Carraghan, Tyler Ulsh, and Aidan Donaldson.

Dylan Hoch and Tyler Ulsh are the defending Slingshot World Champions.
