Allegrucci & Rumsey take National Open tune up wins; Hollenbach 4 Cyl victor

In the final tune up for National Open 32 Nunzi Allegrucci made a late race pass of leader Pete Skias in the 270 Micro Sprint nonstop feature event. Allegrucci caught Skias in lap traffic and drove to a .987 advantage at the checkered flag. Pete Skias was second with Nick Skias rounding out the podium finishers. 2021 point champion Mike Boyer was fourth and Brandon Heist was fifth.


Boyer, Allegrucci and Nick Skias won heat races.


Jason Swavely, Logan Rumsey and Garyt Smith raced fiercely for the top spot in the Hoosier Tire/ Hyper Racing 600 Micro Sprint main event. Rumsey took the top spot from Swavely and Smith followed into the runner up spot. A late race restart gave Smith a shot at Rumsey, but Rumsey saw the checkered flag first. Smith, Swavely, Jeff Sechrist, and Nick Skias were the top five finishers.


Sechrist, Jesse Maurer, and Joey Amantea were the 600 Micro Sprint heat race winners.


Eric Hollenbach went back to victory lane at Linda’s Speedway Friday night for the first time this season. The multi time champion bested the open 4cyl class finishing ahead of brother Ed Hollenbach and Chucky Kimmel. Cody Klinedinst was the first front wheel drive car in fourth followed Francis Gross.


Klinedinst and Gross were the heat race winners for the open 4 Cyls.


Friday and Saturday October 15 and 16 will be the 32nd running of the Linda’s Speedway National Open for the 270 and 600 Micro Sprints.
