PJ Williams held off a late race charge from Colin White to claim the opening night victory for the Hoosier Tire Wingless 600 Micro Sprints presented by Hyper Racing. Williams, White, Steve Kemery, Richie Hartman, and Austin Quick were the top five finishers.
Tommy Kunsman caught and passed Logan Diehl on lap 21 of the 270 Micro Sprint feature event. Kunsman led the rest of the way to claim his 29th career Linda’s Speedway win one the time trial series opener. Kunsman led Diehl, Pete Skias, Austin Graby, and Devin Harron across the line. Pat Bealer was the nights quick timer.
Chaz Buchinsky is on a roll at Linda’s Speedway. Buchinsky won the last race of 2019 and now has won the first race of 2020 to open the modified season. Ty Hoke had a strong second place run followed by Sam Scicchitano, who recovered from an early yellow flag. Brian Blankenbiller and Corey Sechrist rounded out the top 5 finishers.
Some former champions returned to racing and some new cars were debuted but it was still the wily veteran Chris Smith wrestling the lead away from Ed Hollenbach on lap 4 of the opening night race for the Chargers. Smith lead the rest of the way holding off Chucky Kimmel and returning driver Nick Ruhl. Hollenbach recovered to come and finish fourth and Charles Wengerd was fifth.
Cody Klinedinst locked up his first Linda’s Speedway win after coming close many times in the lone Front Wheel Drive 4cyl appearance of the year. The front wheel drive cars will return in the open 4cyl race on July 3. Dave Eitnier was second followed by Rob Storm, Daniel Eitnier, and Bill Sherwood.
This coming Friday the Outlaw Enduro series brings Enduro Racing back to Linda’s Speedway after a 15 year plus absence. Slingshots and Modifieds will be part of the card on June 19 with a special start time of 7:30 for hot laps and 8:00 for racing.
