Updegraff 150th Charger Winners; Adams Auto Sales Hall of Fame Classic to Gingrich

Scott Gingrich and Tommy Kunsman raced side by side for numerous laps in the Jersey Joe’s Boardwalk Café 270 Micro Sprints Friday night in the Adams Auto Sales Hall of Fame Classic.

Kunsman lead the race until lap 14 when Gingrich finally was able to work by and secure the top spot for good on his way to the victory. The race was thrilling and kept Gingrich working hard the whole race. “This one wore me out tonight,” said Gingrich in victory lane, but was thankful for a trip to victory lane and the speed he has late in the season.

Gingrich led Kunsman, Logan Diehl, Mike Boyer, and Ken Miller across the line for the checkered flag.

Kyle Weiss, Dylan Adams, Brian Marriott, Zach Hollinger ,and Morgan Rochelle were the top ten finishers from Friday’s Titan Wings Time Trial Series race fueled by Roadrunner Race Fuels.

Ross Perchak set quick time in time trials with a time of 12.523. Ken Miller was the Amy’s Photos hard charger gaining six spots in the feature event while Perchak gets the hard luck award presented by Kim’s Kreations. Perchak was scheduled to start fifth, but lost his chain on the pace laps.

Tyler Brehm couldn’t buy any luck this season in the Hoosier Tire 600 Micro Sprints. Friday night it looked like a sure thing that he and the Recchione team were finally going to go to victory lane at Linda’s Speedway together. Brehm showed the way for most of the race while Tommy Kunsman gave chase.

Kunsman closed in on Brehm in lap traffic, but then closed the remaining gap very quick it it appeared something was going wrong on the leader’s car. That quick Brehm shot to the infield and his car went up in smoke. He had lost an engine and his chance at the nights checkered flag.

Kunsman held off the advances of Brian Carber and Tyler Walton in the closing five laps after taking over on lap 20.

Kunsman’s second win of the season came over Carber, Walton, Jesse Maurer, and Randy Kunkle. Hayden Miller came from 13th to finish sixth followed by Kameron Morral, Jim Radney, Bret Cronrath, and Ryan Groff.

Mike Glass jumped into the top spot at the start of the Slingshot feature event Friday night. Glass was looking to benefit from hard luck for point leader Brett Bieber in the heat race by winning the feature. Dave Carraghan moved into the runner up spot in the early laps and kept pressure on Glass for much of the race. Carraghan has actually passed Glass for his win earlier this year.

No one would pass Glass on this night as Glass grabbed his second win of the 2017 season. Carraghan was second with Bieber coming from his ninth place starting spot to finish third. Austin Daniels and Chuck Whary rounded out the top five finishers.

Blaire Schoenly led the sixth through tenth place finishers followed by heat winner Dave Labe, Scott Gray, Jon Swift, and Haley Thunberg.

Cody Manmiller controlled the pace in the 600 Modified feature until lap seven when Richie Hitzler moved to the top spot. Once out front, Hitzler didn’t let anyone else move to the head of the 24 car field on his way to the win.

A late race yellow flag gave runner up Charles Bowers and Manmiller a chance to try steal a win away, but they would settle for spots on the podium.

Rj Smith and Scott Gesford completed the top five finishers. Following them across the line were Sam Scicchitano, Ray Gradwell, Dakota Kohler, Hank Smith, and Tyler James.

Rob Pyle, Paul Lambert, and Chucky Kimmel all found themselves at the front of the Appalachian Auto LLC Charger feature race Friday night. It was the 150 Charger feature race held at Linda’s Speedway. Pyle was in search of his second win of the season while Lambert and Kimmel both would have been first time winners.

Kimmel lead the field to two to go before his car went around in turn three. Many of the top runners were involved. Aaron Updegraff snuck through the melee from third and took over the top spot. Updegraff led the final two laps to be the 150th driver to take a checkered flag at Linda’s Speedway.

Shjon Dove and Charles Wengard were the top three finishers ahead of Jeremy Ott and Lambert.

Josh Demmy was sixth chased by Ronnie Buck, Troy Hostetter, Chris Cunnane, and John Manz.

There was a make up feature run for the Chargers run from August 4 to start the night. Jim Dove lead the race early on while Jeremy Ott worked his way to the front of the pack. Ott worked past runner up Rob Pyle on lap ten and then by Dove on lap 12.

Once Ott took the race lead he led to the checkered flag. Troy Hostetter, Aaron Updegraff, Jim Dove, and Eric Hollenbach were the top five finishers.

Paul Lambert, Chucky Kimmel, John Snavely, Chris Cunnane, and Dale Kreiser finished out the top ten finishers from the event.
